Ukraine prepares to start reverse gas imports from Romania

KIEV, Aug 19 (PRIME) -- Ukrainian gas transportation system operator Ukrtransgaz has coordinated technical solutions for reverse supplies of 1.5 billion cubic meters per year of natural gas from Romania starting from 2020 with the operators of other countries, the company said in a statement on its Facebook page on Monday.

The company coordinated the solution with Moldovagaz and operators of other countries. “It is expected that constant capacity for imports of 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year will be created from Romania already on January 1, 2020, regardless transit of Russian natural gas through the territory of Ukraine,” the company said.

Ukraine stopped buying Russian gas in 2015, and has been relying on reverse imports from the E.U. since then.
